Hi! My name is Sophia Lucia and I’m a central Florida based painter and illustrator :)

I am a full time student pursing my B.F.A in painting, along with my classes I do commission work to support myself.

 The current body of work I’m building is centered around identity and how during difficult times in our lives, it can feel as though our struggles are what define us. Through my large scale illustrative paintings, I seek to build my own world where my characters passively exist within fantastical settings portraying my own internal struggles. I call my characters my “girls”, they are young women dressed in 1950s’ inspired animal Halloween costumes. The type of animal that the girl is dressed as aims to reflect the specific struggle each piece is about. The process of creating these large paintings grants me time to reflect on my convoluted feelings and attempt to work through them.
